Travelling by rail:
Burrows Lea is about one mile from the nearest railway station in the village of Gomshall, close to Shere. Gomshall is a small station which has neither a taxi service nor a public telephone so patients are not advised to use Gomshall station except on the day of their appointment when The Sanctuary's own car can meet them at Gomshall Station to take them to and from Burrows Lea.
This service is by prior arrangement.

By road:
From Guildford, take the A25 to Dorking for about five miles. Turn right at the signpost to Shere. Proceed under a wooden footbridge and then take the first turning on the right in the village centre. Continue through Shere village (ignoring left turn by a small green), going up the hill (about half a mile) until you reach a railway bridge. Cross over the bridge and immediately bear left into Hook Lane. This road is signposted to Peaslake and to Burrows Lea. The Sanctuary is approximately half a mile on the right and is clearly marked - ignore an earlier sign on the right for Burrows Lea Farm.
From Dorking, take the A25 to Guildford for about seven miles until you reach the village of Gomshall. After passing under a railway arch, take the second turning on the left, carry straight on over a level crossing, and continue up the hill (about half a mile) until you reach Burrows Cross crossroads. Turn right into Hook Lane to Burrows Lea and the entrance to The Sanctuary is clearly marked as the first large driveway on the left.
From Horsham, take the A281 (signed Cranleigh/Guildford) to Rudgwick. Right turn about five miles from Horsham on to the B2128 to Cranleigh (four miles). At the Esso garage in Cranleigh take the second exit off a mini roundabout to Ewhurst (two miles) on the B2127. Drive through Ewhurst village to another mini roundabout with the Bulls Head pub on your right, and take the exit directly opposite - Shere Road. Go straight on up a steep hill (Pitch Hill) passing the Windmill pub on your left after one and a half miles, and pass a turning signposted Peaslake on the right. The road narrows to become single track to Shere. After two miles take the next turning on the right, just before Railway Bridge. This is Hook Lane, signposted to Peaslake and to Burrows Lea. The Sanctuary is approximately half a mile on the right and is clearly marked - ignore an earlier sign on the right for Burrows Lea Farm. |
